Last weekend we went on a family road trip back towards Dingle.
The town itself is about an hour’s drive away but, as it gets quite busy in the summer months, we definitely suggest you plan in some time to explore places before and after.
Here’s the route we took and a few spots worth checking out along the way.
Offshore Surf School
Inch is an absolutely stunning sandy beach about a 40 minute drive from Caragh Lake en-route to Dingle.
For the kids (and kids-at-heart) Offshore Surf School provide lessons and board-hire throughout the spring, summer and autumn months. So if you fancy pulling on a wetsuit and jumping in, it’s a great way to kick off the trip.
If you don’t feel like getting wet, you can wander up to Sammy’s, a beach-front cafe and bar, while you wait for everyone to come off the water buzzing.
Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium
If it’s raining and you’re wandering around the town with the kids, why not pop into the Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium for a while?
It’s small but nicely set up, so a good little place to while away the time as the rain clouds pass.
Slea Head Drive
You should definitely make time to head out beyond Dingle towards Slea Head.
It’s an stunning drive with some amazing views of the Blasket Islands and far off in the distance, the Skelligs.
For an extra special treat, take a ferry from Dunquin out to the island. It’s a beautiful trip!
Murphy’s Ice Cream
Last but certainly not least, Murphy’s Ice Cream is a great incentive for everyone!
We always stop off here when we’re in Dingle.
They have some fun flavours (including brown bread ice cream) and the service is always spot on.
If you have some other favourite pit stops en-route we’d love to hear them. Just add them to the comments below.
Thanks and enjoy!
